Miniature Hardy LotusThis diminutive perennial lotus is for shallow water locations, but once established in a pot of soil, is quite happy with ten inches of water over the soil surface. Leaves four to six inches or more in diameter are floating in mid spring. As summer approaches, the new leaves begin to stand above the water four to six inches high. In July and August small flowers three to five inches wide open for a mid summer display. Fertilize once the first six leaves have formed, then every two months with fertilizer tables. (See Planting Supplies). Leaf size depends on fertility and available sunlight. Remove old leaves and spent flowers as needed to keep plant vigorous. Can be invasive if left unchecked. Likes to grow in very shallow setting and will do well in wet ground that is not submerged. Hardy to Zone 6. Bare Root Tubers will be shipped in April to early May only. Order early to reserve your plants. POTTED plants are available for pick-up only beginning in late May. Potted Lotus may be picked up at the nursery. |
